Attar of Roses Scented Leaf Sugar
Attar of Roses’s dried leaves have a strong sweet rose aroma. I cut the pesticide-free scented pelargonium leaves from my plant and laid them on a bamboo tray to dry. When dried the leaves almost filled one cup. I used my clean coffee grinder to grind the leaves finely. This measured one tablespoon of powdered leaves. Measuring one cup of ultra-fine baker’s sugar I added the powdered leaves and stirred well.
If you like your hot or cold black tea sweet, try adding a bit of the scented sugar to it for a slightly floral taste. The finely powdered herb may float to the top, but you can still drink it! The sugar that I do not use for teas I will use to make butter cookies.
