Hanging Multiradiatum Pelargonium

Multiradiatum Pelargonium has intricate unique leaves. Its flower petals are almost black with pale-yellow margins that scent at night.

This spring-summer flowering species Pelargonium multiradiatum is from South Africa. The name multiradiatum means ‘many rays’ which refers to the radiating bunches of up to 30 flowers on a branch. The petals are almost black with pale-yellow margins that scent at night. Flowering is from spring to early autumn September to March. (South Africa) It can reach over two feet when flowering.

It has pinnatifid leaves characterized by lobes cut less than halfway toward the large, strengthened vein along the midline of a leaf creating a feather-like appearance.

This perennial has aerial parts that die back at the end of a season. The food for new shoots next season is stored in the buds on the stem of the woody tuber.

My plant is hanging by a west-facing window hoping it will flower this coming season.
