The Big Apple Pelargonium

The Big Apple Scented Pelargonium Leaf

The big apple is a perennial shrublet that grows a short, thick main stem. with somewhat tuberous roots.

The scented pelargonium odoratissimum plant is becoming one of my favorites. As we head into the winter months it still has leaves and is showing new shoots.

It is a perennial shrublet that grows a short, thick main stem that is coarse and scaly due to persistent bases of old stipules. The roots are somewhat tuberous.

The plants’ leaves are light green and covered with fine short hairs. They are roundish with wavey edges and have a strong apple-mint scent.

It has small flowers that are white or pale pink and can flower throughout the year except for midsummer.

This very fragrant species can be used in cosmetics, culinary, and crafting.
